At My Age…..

When I turned 50, I decided it was time to find my own way in the world. I packed up my house and moved 1,000 miles away. New Orleans to be exact. But my body was experiencing its own changes. I was sluggish, couldn’t sleep, starting menopause, and my hair was trying to fall out in clumps. I had to find a new way to care for myself

I had to take a deep breath! This was happening to alot of women my age but nobody was talking about it. I wanted to start the discussion. But it would manifest in much more than a conversation. It became a movement. So people always ask me why I try to exercise everyday?

Walking burns up the sugar that’s in your blood, and it strengthens muscles so you use blood sugar more efficiently. The benefit is almost instantaneous.

A regular walk is a reliable way to lower stress and anxiety and boost your mood.

Exercise is a fundamental need of the body. As a women, exercise can help control:

Need To Start But Don’t Know How?

  • Make That Dr. Appointment. Consult with a doctor to see where you stand in the beginning. They will be happy to support your progress.
  • Make Some Reachable Goals. I wanted to lose 100 pounds. But that couldn’t be the first goal. I started at 10 pounds. Even that was super HARD!
  • Start Slow But Be Consistent. I started with 2 days a week for 30 minutes. That’s all I can do. But i was proud to even get started. After three months, I add another day. And it continued…..
  • Make It Part of Your Daily Routine. I was never a morning person. Ever. The day I decided to make the morning for me, my priorities change and so did my thoughts.
